Kinda wordy/slow for some, but was interesting to see Hollyleaf and Fallen Leaves interact. I loved the scene with Hollyleaf and the fox cub too.

reading this in 2024 made me realize i've already read this and simply skipped ahead because i had to know what happened to her π i had no idea what was going on with any of the cat names but had a great time then and it makes way more sense now

Compelling storyline, unfortunately, Hollyleafβs perspective is one of my least favorite of the main characters.

I liked reading this novella, because Hollyleaf is very near and dear to my heart. Her interactions with Fallen Leaves were entertaining and endearing, although I wish they had delved deeper into their personal (and overlapping) traumas. I've learned not to expect too many honest or realistic conversations in this series, but at the very least, I wish that Hollyleaf had connected the dots about Fallen Leaves being a ghost and talked to him about that, especially since she nearly became a medicine cat and might have connections to the dead because of it.
I am about to read "The Forgotten Warrior," so this novella contained a few spoilers, but nothing I didn't already know from friends and other fans of this series. It was well worth it, to see Hollyleaf interact so gently with a baby fox and to hear some of her thoughts on Leafpool and Squirrelflight (though again, I wish she had talked about that trauma and her reaction a bit more, beyond what she said to other cats in the third series).

I would of liked if the auhtor had prolonged it a couple more chapters, but it did have a set ending. All in all, I loved it!
