Trash. Dialogue is bad, way too many characters. I get that this is a series and they often have a lot of characters, but there’s no reason to introduce them all at once, right in the middle of a murder mystery, with seemingly no relevance to said mystery. The romance is garbage - he cancelled the wedding because he’s “too dangerous” or some shit, but is still in love with her ?? Then when she sees him for the first time after being dumped 9 months ago (+ she’s in shock from having discovered a dead body the day before), they’re suddenly buddy buddy and a few hours later have sex. Like does the author have something against rational characters?! Plus a lot of the family/friend relationships have a weird meanness to them. Just a strong dislike all around.
Spoiler: I skipped to the end to see how they ended up. The murder mystery is resolved and they’re living apart as usual. Then he shows up with a puppy, says he was stupid for breaking up with her, and proposes again. She says yes and that’s that. I *detest* this book.
