Wasn’t for me. Anna and Cassie annoyed me. I kept forgetting Cassie was an adult who had been married twice because she acted like a spoiled teenager.  Not much sleuthing was done and they found the culprit in the last chapter, which seemed rushed to me.

Unfortunately, my reason below will keep me from reading any more in the series.
I really became annoyed with how irritating Anna was with her reactions to her daughter and how the daughter never reacted or talked back...

Idk, I might be in the minority here but I didn't care for the writing. I had high hopes from the description, but it fell flat. The mood swings between Anna and Cassie felt weirdly timed. The Mayor accusing someone of murder and everyone taking her word for it felt petty, like a high school Queen Bee. The actual mystery was fine, but it all conveniently wrapped up in the end. To me there weren't enough stakes, enough push or drive. There was an opportunity to make these characters more fleshed out, but they fell flat.

I'm not sure what to think of this. Overall this is fairly well written, so that was an unexpected gem for an indie book. The plot is decent enough and the mystery was fairly clever. Some of the characters are a little flat, but I think with time they could become more dimensional.

I'm not a huge fan of Anna. She's a bit ridiculous. I like Cassie a bit more and she seems more grounded, despite being a Hollywood actress. Which is a little crazy, but still. Cassie has her issues but she generally is alright. Anna is a little sanctimonious.

Overall, I'd continue reading these through kindle unlimited. The mysteries are good enough to keep me coming back.

Edit: Meh. Decided this just wasn't good enough to continue past book 2.

Terrible. The characters are really unlikable. I was trying to get through it but then 30% in I realized the mystery is going to be the girl murdered in the woods. Who even cares? Really poorly written. I have to stop trusting other people's ratings on these! Seriously, this story is not interesting at all.
