this was a really good book that educated me in something i knew nothing about going into it. it was very sad at times and my heart ached (and still does) for salva, and i wish him nothing but the best with his foundation!!!

Struggles of two African children impacted by the lack of clean water access in southern Sudan. It alternates between their perspectives 20 years apart. The setting during one time period is a long trek to refugee camps trying to escape war.

I really enjoyed this—it's a quick audiobook (~3 hours), dual-narration, that follows the real-life story of Salva, one of the "Lost Boys of Sudan," and a fictionalized character, Nya, who lives in a remote village in South Sudan years later. I would recommend, especially if you know little (to nothing, like me) about the Second Sudanese Civil War.

Great- based on a true story tale about The Lost Boys of Sudan, life struggling to find & collect water every day, surviving in a war torn country & the struggles of a conflict filled country in turmoil. A very inspiring & hopeful tale, too.

listened to first half on audiobook & read second half! will be teaching this this year as it’s in our curriculum. has many emotional, traumatic, and devastating incidents for the main character (based on a real person) but overall hopeful at the end.
