I really loved the intense action scenes they were fantastic. The characters had a lot of depth and possibilities. What Hold me back on the rating was the need for the couple to stop mid-survival to make out and think about relationship instead staying alive. A couple moments would have been perfect, believable, but the amount and time taken was over the top for me. You know adrenaline can make you hot to trot but come on. I had massive eye rolling going on. There was also some serious personality flip flops that just didn't work.
Will I read more ? Normally I'd say no, but her characters were so interesting I might give it another go and hope this author brings it together more.

I felt like I was stuck in the Alaskan wilderness, and not in a good way. This story got bogged down in the middle for me. There wasn't much action, and the time spent in Leo and Elias' heads was not that engaging. I kept waiting for more action from the other characters. I guess the Alaskan wilderness was supposed to be that action, but it fell flat for me.

MF - contemporary survival and thriller romance - Black FMC, white MMC - moderate steam - pov third dual - child free - forced proximity (Alaskan wilderness, snowed in, surviving) - found family - girl crush - grumpy heroine - hurt/comfort - mature (30s) - military - only one bed - 5 stars.

I've been meaning to read this book since I loved Whiteout and I'm so glad I did.

Firstly, the heroine, Leo, is AMAZING. Ex-military, sharp as hell, bad ass. Even the mountain man hero who has lived alone for years is like "damn this woman is intense." Secondly, the dog, Bo, was fucking amazing. Give me a mountain man and his wolf-dog anytime. Thirdly, we have a kick ass grandma who defends her small alaskan town from the baddies while the FMC and MMC are being hunted.

This book had so much going for it as a thriller and survival book, and then add in the sweet romance and danger banging and I was done.

Overall, this was a well-written book that captured my attention from the first page until the last. Adriana Anders is gifted in weaving romance and suspense together and making it look easy. While I prefer the first book in the series to this one, I still think this was a fantastic read. I'm looking forward to where the story and characters go from here.

Adriana Anders’s Uncharted is a suspenseful, riveting romp through the Alaskan wilderness. An interconnected standalone, this novel follows last year’s Whiteout and continues with two new protagonists, Leo and Elias.

Leo Eddowes lives her life one thrill to the next. Part of an elite force that is seeking to prevent a highly contagious virus from landing into the wrong hands, Leo finds herself thrown together with Elias, a man as mysterious as he is massive. Elias Thorne possesses information that could be vital to Leo’s mission, but everyone else who knew what he knows has been killed. Can they work together to fight a common foe? And can they trust in the intense connection they feel toward one another as they traverse the punishing Alaskan climate?

I, for one, enjoyed Uncharted more than its predecessor, if only because Whiteout had to establish a lot more of the background and universe of the narrative. I’d recommend reading Whiteout first for context, and because it’s also very intense. Fans of suspense will definitely love the pacing and action in this story. The romance takes a bit of a back seat, which didn’t bother me as much as I would have thought. Leo and Elias are great foils for one another, and the mysterious Ash is also someone I’m itching to know more about.

If you like a fast-paced, gripping story that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat, Uncharted is definitely for you.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

After Whiteout, I was excited to read more in this world, but sadly this one didn’t live up to the first book for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy to review.

Wow, very intense action/chase/this environment will kill us scenes keep this plot moving from the first page. Anders really immerses you in the survival/tracking/badass skills and grit of Elias and Leo. Also very present is the badass older female character, Amha, who I just LOVED. She gets stuff done while complaining about stiff joints etc. Old ladies for the win!

Another action-packed installment by Anders with the romance taking a bit of a back seat with this one. Still good connections between the characters, but the suspense element seemed paramount here.

Thanks for the review copy from Sourcebooks and Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
