I am not the target audience anymore. I would’ve enjoyed this as a teenager. I just closed the book and gave up when the 12 year old from the 80s-90s (?) used the word misogyny without explanation on how she learned the word. Girlbossed too close to the sun unfortunately.

AMAZING. My heart. My soul. This was everything. I know I’ll be reading it again. This book touched my soul in a way that others haven’t in a long time. Loved every moment of it. I highly recommend. Full of strong feminist empowerment. Heartbreak and sorrow. Finding strength in the darkness. And finding your inner goddess. Thank you Nikita Gill.

really neat to read this alongside ATCBD—stories abt queer indian women and their lives both inside and outside of india—love the emphasis on mother-daughter relationships and friendships. dragged a little bit just before the half and verse isn’t my preferred style but the mythologies were so interesting

The Girl And The Goddess by Nikita Gill was an absolutely beautiful novel in verse that I truly wish I could read over and over again for the first time. I loved the characters, I loved the stories the Goddesses told, and I loved the lessons to be learned from reading these poems. I think that this book touched on so many deep topics, but did so in a really approachable and meaningful way. I loved all of the characters, and how each character had to go through their own journey, even within the limited space of the poems. I loved the sense of identity in this book, and truly did not want to stop reading. If you’re a fan of novels in verse, I would highly recommend reading this one, especially if you want a deeper look into the Hindu pantheon and Indian culture.

Read in the store like 30 pages. Moving, made me cry. 16.00$ but don’t have money to buy.
