Splintered Worlds presents a trip to Eox for the first time, and sets the adventurers on a path to confrontation with one of Eox's most dangerous factions, the Corpse Fleet. It stumbles through the Diaspora along the way, and builds on the tradition of the previous entries in the AP by exploring new settings with interesting NPCs.

Unlike the previous entry, though, this third book seems a little bit too anemic in terms of its story. Whereas Castrovel was presented as a wilderness full of strangeness and opportunity, both the Diaspora and Eox here feel a bit too much like a side trip than a whole destination, and I found myself wanting more from the Eox section, especially. Since Eox is one of the more iconic worlds in this setting, I find myself wanting more of the planet than what we are ultimately given.

Nevertheless, the backmatter is great, featuring a lot of information on the Corpse Fleet, and there are a number of cool, if weird, creatures collected in the Archives. I'm not 100% in love with the monster design this time around, but it could certainly be a lot worse. All in all, this is a fine chapter in the progressing AP, even if I don't find it to hit home in all efforts.
