I can see the intrigue for others with this book, however it was nothing but a bore for me.

An atmospheric book, i actually didn’t like it in the very first pages, but then slowly as the story continued with moving hazily through the main character’s encounters with new women, it became somewhat interesting! Though the only reason that i liked the book was the dark and atmospheric imagination it made me to imagine, the story is just a cliché!

The Lake, I recommend to readers wanting to experience a darker aspect of Kawabata’s particular sense of beauty.

Kawabata goes Dickens? Superb work, one of the best.
