Powerful story. Poor translation

Mahasweta Devi writes about the marginalised without speaking down on them. In this story, the narrator is a privileged wan who realises that the patchwork charity she indulges in doesn't really make a difference. It is that distance that makes this story extra meaningful. The translation, however, can be a lot better
