Unbelievably trite and cliche. Every single sentence is over dramatic to the extreme. Heart SHATTERING LIKE BROKEN GLASS!!!!!!! *Hand to forehead* Etc etc. It never lets up. There's fluff and then there's cotton candy.

And I hate cotton candy.

I'm less than 100 pages into this book when I'm dropping it, and I can already tell you exactly what comes next. I can tell you how it goes and how it ends and what the twists are. No really, I made my predictions, checked spoiler filled reviews--and I was dead on.

No point in suffering for a story I already know will be lackluster. This has been on my tbr forever and I'm disappointed to say the least.

"Patti Callahan Henry is the master of storytelling - renowned for her beautifully written stories, she goes back to the Lowcounty of SC where a tragedy unites two woman and forces them to face the dark secrets of their past - things are not always as they seem. Great book - you will want to read all her works - as they never disappoint! "

So tedious. Glad that Henry's writing has improved. I got this because our library was putting in new carpets and books were only on a handful of shelves. This just didn't do it for me.

Annabelle Murphy is a widow. Her husband knoxdird in a plane accident. For two years Annabelle has mourned his loss and tried to move on with her life.

Just when her life has reached some normalcy, her husband's plane is found in a remote area of Colorado. But the plane not only contains her husband, but unidentified woman. And annabelle's world is upturned.

The novel explores how we can't always know everything about those we love.

It was alright. I enjoyed the images of the small coastal town, mainly because I've been to so many like the one described. The character of Sophie intrigued me, not so much because of her secrets, but because of her mindset. Although, to be honest, the main reason I finished the book was to finally find out what the hell her secret was. By that point it was not longer charming.

The main character was a little whiny for my taste, but it's a good quick read - very typical "beach read".

Didn't get out of the first chapter. The premise was good...the writing style was not for me. Too melodramatic.

Not one of my favorites by her. Predictable and uncomfortable. The stories of the characters seemed disjointed, and it is difficult to connect with Sophie. I don't find the characters to be all that likable.

Kept reading to find out just what the secret was.......although some of it was predictable, the unknowns kept me reading up until the last page.....
