An emotional read - Rafe has been best friends with Cora’s overprotective brothers since childhood and he is just as protective of her. She’s had a crush on him since she was a young teen, and he’s treated her like a younger sister.

Rafe moves into her her guest room for a few weeks when he returns to the Bay Area for work. She’s feed up with the interference from her brothers and Rafe so she gets a bit sassy towards him hoping he will back off. The sass leads to a shockingly hot kiss in her kitchen that Rafe apologizes for and then avoids her.

These two both have some emotional issues to get past before they can have a HEA. Rafe’s family life was sad - his mother committed suicide due to severe postpartum depression and his dad blamed Rafe and was very abusive. Rafe found love and family with the Hutchins brothers and he has been one of them for decades. He is t willing to do anything to jeopardize his place. Cora is someone who wants to be incredibly independent and not rely on anyone for help. She is tried of her brothers and their overprotective antics.

The road to a HEA for Cora and Rafe is more than a bit bumpy with some angst and hurt pride. The ending is heartwarming and a little surprising.

This family! They really are the epitome of “I’ve got your back, we are family, always.” But with that closeness comes…protectiveness for the “baby” sister.

From the matriarch, Edy Hutchins to all six of her older brothers, Cora Hutchins has got a lot of overly protective watchdogs. And then there’s Rafe…who essentially grew up at the Hutchins’ house as the brother’s best friend.

So when Rafe needed a place to stay temporarily while working on a job in the same town Cora lives in, it was only natural that the brothers recommend that he stay with her.

But Cora isn’t a little girl anymore (although her brothers seem to think she is!). She’s a grown woman with a demanding job and good girlfriends to hang out with.

So where does Rafe fit into this? Roommates? Friends? Or?

Without giving the story away, it is a rollercoaster of emotions, some very funny, some poignant and some sad. But through it all, the fun and adventure of watching Cora and Rafe together (plus her family and friends!) makes this a wonderful story!

Bad Best Friend is the fourteenth book in the Billionaire’s Club series by Elise Faber. I have not read any other books in the series, but I have never had any trouble reading Ms. Faber’s books as a standalone. This book was fast-paced and was full of humor. I loved meeting all of Cora’s family and her brothers were adorable even if they were a little overprotective. I loved all the quick-witted joking between the siblings and found myself laughing out loud several times.
Rafe had grown up as part of Hutchins’s family but always felt his place in the family was dependent on his actions. He was afraid of losing the only family he knew so when he didn’t want to acknowledge his attraction to Cora. Her brothers were his best friends, and he knew how protective they were.
Cora had a childhood crush on Rafe but knew he thought of her as a sister. But when he moves in with her, both of their feelings start to change but she realizes how important her family is to Rafe. She doesn’t want to cause any problems between her brothers and Rafe, so they agree to keep their growing relationship to themselves.
Rafe’s fear of losing the Hutchins as a family affected Cora because she felt like she was not enough for him since he was not willing to fight for her and their relationship. I was so glad to see him realize that he was part of their family no matter what and their love was not conditional. I really enjoyed the book and I hope to see the Hutchins family in future books.

I really enjoyed this story from start to finish. Rafe sees himself as a de facto brother to Cora and Cora feels the same. Until things change and they don't. I really liked getting to know the thoughts of each of the characters. Rafe is an incredible protector and Cora is just an all-round wonderful character. In fact, I really enjoyed every character in this book and I wish that I had a girl posse like Cora's. This was a fun read that covered some not-fun issues which added some depth to an otherwise lightweight relationship story. That's not a criticism, just acknowledgement that every up needs a down. This is the latest book in the series and even though I've read a couple of the previous books, I was very pleased at the Cast of Characters. Loved it

I have been patiently waiting for Cora's book after watching all of her friends (and then some) fall in love. I was very much not disappointed. This was a slow burn after years and years of these two knowing each other. Rafe is the best friend of Cora's 3 oldest brothers. The girl has 6 brothers, 6! 2 sets of twins and 2 in the middle. All older. If she was real I would give their mother Edy mad props! Especially for doing it all on her own after their dad passed away.

Rafe is a kind hearted soul damaged from the abuse his uncaring dad put him through. I'm so glad he had the Hutchinses and that they love him equally as one of their own. Cora is an amazing woman! She is strong, kind, and loving. I just love how she puts up with her overbearing, overprotective brothers but at the same time lives her own happy life.

I understand and respect why Rafe was scared to commit to Cora. But at the same time I was so not happy with him. He didn't want to fight for her! Seriously, what better person for a sister than the "brother" you trust with your own life! I was so very happy when he pulled his head out of his ****. Though I wish it had happened under better circumstances. I have to say my heart seriously melted when Edy said that Rafe was the first of the brother's to hold Cora after she was born! It's kismet!

I just love these two but I am more happy that everyone in this group of fabulous women has finally met their better half. They all deserve that HEA!

"Bad Best Friend" by Elise Faber is book #14 of the Billionaire's Club series but works well as a standalone. I was able to jump in here without feeling lost at all even though I've only read one or two of the earlier books in the series (so far).

When their father died, the six Hutchins brothers promised to protect their baby sister Cora, who was only five years old at the time. Cora's an adult now, but her brothers don't seem to have gotten the message. They continue to interfere in her personal life and have chased off every guy she's ever been interested in, up to and including her most recent ex-boyfriend. Her oldest brother's best friend Rafe, who's been an honorary member of the Hutchins clan since he was in elementary school, is just as overprotective as the rest of them, so when he shows up on Cora's doorstep one night and announces that he's moving in with her, she's not happy. Rafe's in town for work and her brothers think he should stay with Cora in case she needs "help" after the breakup. Cora begrudgingly allows Rafe to take up residence in her guest room, but surprisingly, things begin to change once they're living under the same roof. Rafe can't help but see Cora as a grown woman instead of the little sister he's always tried to pretend she was. Maybe that crush Cora's been hiding since she was a teenager isn't so one-sided after all...

I really liked Cora and Rafe together. Their banter was amusing, the push-pull between them was well done, and they had plenty of chemistry - so much, in fact, that I don't know how her brothers didn't figure out what was going on between them sooner. I really empathized with Rafe's fears about getting involved with Cora and losing his place as an honorary Hutchins since they were more of a family to him than his own father ever was. It took a lot (honestly, a bit longer than I would have liked) for him to finally realize that it was worth the risk to fight for Cora, but his groveling more than made up for it in the end.

Overall, I very much enjoyed "Bad Best Friend" and would recommend it for all contemporary romance and romantic comedy fans. I look forward to learning more about the Hutchins brothers in future books!
