I've read this series so many times. They're just delightful, simple books.

Have been rereading this since my first go at this series way back in middle school. Very solid and charming story, always nice to come back to these characters after all this time 🙏 a good series for when you want to read something where the antagonists are just plain evil and lurking around every corner and the protagonists are plain innocent and trying their best. And I love how this came with the Bloor/Yewbeam family tree at the start (which I think continues throughout the rest of the series?) because I was constantly flipping back to it to help piece together how certain characters were related to others, especially given how so out of time Henry (technically Charlie’s great great uncle?) is in this book. I think outside of the first book, this is the one I remembered the most with Henry’s disappearance/reappearance and all his lil hiding spots within the academy like I think we all wanted to live with Cook in her alcove deep behind the kitchens of the castle. I can’t wait to revisit the next book in the series!

This was a book series that I started to read when I was a child and after re reading it I am happy to say that it is one I would still read. I find many of the turns predictable but that was part of the charm and the fact that I felt hope while reading the series really warmed my heart.
