This is an adventure not to be missed for fans of Ash the Prince of the Winter Court. This is his story. His amazing adventure through dark and mysterious parts of the fairy world. He tackles many life and death moments, faces some ugly truths, and learns of sorrow. He travels with Puck,The Big Bad Wolf, Grimalkin and a memory from the past.
Ash has to fulfill his promise made to The Iron Queen, the promise to find a way they can be together. A promise must be keep in Fairy, there is no getting out of it. This promise will push him to the brink and take someone he loves away. The price is so high is he willing to pay ?
The former Prince of the Winter Court, has done wrong to so many. He has enemies everywhere. There is great darkness that will follow him forever if he makes a choice. He must choose.
The Big Bad Wolf is a great beast, strong agile and fearsome on the old tales. But his stories are be shared less, his force is fading. He's angry at almost being forgotten. His story has lost favor, he needs a fresh tale. He travels with them, hoping for a share of theirs.

Puck is there because ever after all that passed between them, Ash is his friend. He wants his friend to have happiness. He is truly a noble and misjudged character. Always appearing light and full of fun, but this vision of him is not true.
Grim, well he's there because he want to aggravate all of them. Ok, maybe not but he really enjoys it. He is what he is a cat, mischievous. there are moments where his softness leaks through. (shh don't tell him you saw them) He is truly magnificent in this tale.
So many fantastic moments, scary, happy and tear jerking. The tear jerking one was painful to read. Sniff Sniff...get out the tissues. This was the best book in the series, and that is saying a lot. A perfect ending. Thank you for this fourth book. ( there were only to be three)

Although I did thoroughly enjoy this series, I was really hoping for a bit more for the conclusion. There was one big element of surprise that caught me off guard, and I loved the twist in the plot it was able to bring with it. I also loved that it was from Ash's pov and I found I didn't miss Meghan's character whatsoever. However, Ash's journey was a little flat and predictable and the ending was a bit anticlimactic. I personally would have been happy with Iron Queen as the final installment, leaving the ending a bit less cliché.

I liked the book but I think Ariella's part could have been minimized, should have been minimized.

This was awful. Slow, boring and completely unnecessary. This could've just been an epilogue for The iron queen, or half as short.
Bringing Ariella back just to murder her again was awful and just a mechanism to brighten up the plot a bit, and I fell for it at first but when we discover what her fate is I got completely mad because it feels like she died for Ash and then resurrected for him just to be killed for his mortality. I hate it.
Oh and Puck is not even as half as gay as I wanted him to be in this book.

Awful.

Definitely my favorite of the whole series. I love Ash. I love what he is willing to go through to try and be with Meghan again. The pain and torment he suffers, the writer made me feel like I was actually there and experiencing it right along with him. I laughed my butt off, and cried in this book. But with Ash and Puck what do you expect! And come on, how could you not love Grim? I'm really hope Julie Kagawa decides to write a book from Puck's pov. I'd really like to know where he goes and if he ever finds someone.
