Flower Shields by C.A. King is the first book in the Four Horsemen series. I gave this wild adventure 5 stars! This was so different from what I normally read, and I absolutely loved it! First off……that cover…it’s ridiculously gorgeous. I want to frame it it’s that beautiful. Second, I really enjoyed the opening thoughts as it completely set the tone for the story ahead. Almost reminded me of The Neverending Story which I also enjoyed immensely. The story itself was written in third person, and engaging from the start. No HEA this time as it continues in Book 2. The characters were all vividly described, and very compelling. Tara and Michael are the two main characters, and play very well off each other. Can’t wait to read Book 2!

Flower Shields: A Four Horsemen Novel by C.A. King is a book that completely hooked me from the very first pages. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the storyline flowed and the way in which the characters were developed.

I'm always looking for new reads, or new authors that I can get lost with. Which is why when I came across Flower Shields, I was interested. I definitely enjoyed the paranormal twist that we get with this retelling of the Four Horsemen. I have to say that I was glad with the feel of the story being original.

I can honestly say that I'll be coming back for more of this author. The author does a fantastic job on doing a refreshing take on existing tales. I would definitely consider this a 5 Star Book!!

Flower Shields by C.A. King is the first book in the Four Horsemen series. This story follows Michael and Tara. Michael is one of the guardians of the gates of hell. When Tara is brought into his life everything changes for him. Tara is important to him and his guardianship of the gates and is in extreme danger. The only problem is that Tara does not know about any of this and how she fits into the equation. Michael is great. He is used to being a warrior and only lets the other Horsemen into his life. Tara is a free spirit and is not sure in what her direction to take her life. All she knows is that she loves flowers and being around them.
Tara is lovable and realistic. Many of us do not know what we want to do with our lives and how to fit the things we love into it. She is trusting and a bit naive. This lends itself to the story and her being able to get herself into some trouble but also keep herself protected at times. Michael is a typical warrior. He keeps everything close to himself and has a hard time letting outsiders into his world. On top of this, how is someone like Tara expected to understand him.
This was an enjoyable read and I almost read straight through to the end in one sitting. I enjoyed the story and the characters. The only downside is that the ending was left really open but I know that this is because there is more to come. I look forward to learning more about Gabby, Uriel, and Raphael in the future.

Flower Shields A Four Horsemen Novel by C.A. King

Five Stars!!

Legends never looked so good. Flower Shields is the first book in the Four Horsemen Novel series. Written in a first person POV alternating between the two main characters. C.A.King has a unique way of creating the back story while keeping the story in the here and now. The new spin on a legend draws you in and makes you want to turn the page and keep reading till you stop.

In Flower Shields C.A. King has created a virutal page turner. I couldnt put it down. The chemistry between Tara and Micheal is subtly introduced and built over the book. The book is excellently written and the characters are brought to life by the authors creative way in which the story unfolds. I was definately engrossed in this book and couldnt put it down. The story recreates the four horseman legend and it has left me wanting more!! A great start to what I am sure will be a great series!

Flower Shields (A Four Horseman Novel book 1)
By C A King
4 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I have to admit I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first started reading but it didn’t take me long for this book to have my full attention - it never wavered until the very last page! I have previously read a book by this author so I knew she had a nice writing style which is again what I experienced with this book.
The book started with a fantastic prologue which is where my attention was first captured. I felt like I knew exactly what I was going into when I started chapter 1 and I think this added to my enjoyment of the story even more.
I loved the characters, it that they were really well thought out and I can tell even after the first book that they are going to be great to read about. I really liked Michael! Oh my gosh he was so handsome and sexy! I could have read about him all day long! He might have been a womaniser but I couldn’t help but like him! I liked Tara as well and found her character really interesting. I loved the unspoken chemistry between the two of them!
Having really enjoyed this book I am definitely looking forward to the next books in the series!

Flower SHIELDS (A Four Horseman Novel)
By C. A. King
Rated 4 stars

I picked this up because a friend recommended it. I was not disappointed! The writing is easy to follow and read. The characters are interesting. The story was great. I enjoyed how much of the background info was put into the prologue. That was immensely helpful so I was on board when I started chapter one.

I love Michael! He is broody, a womanizer and handsome to boot. He is also a horseman. He looks for demons and banishes them. He hasn’t seen a demon in a while but times are changing. He realizes when he meets Tara something is off.

Tara is important to the universe and has no clue. All she knows is there are weird people with dark eye showing up at her job among other places. I was surprised she didn’t freak when she found out. I did like her insight to the whole flowers thing.

I wasn’t super invested in the love story aspect because they hardly spent time together. So how could they be in insta-love. There was no kissing/talking basically he was rude to her and she smashed flowers over his head. Don’t get me wrong...that part was great! I still *snicker* thinking about it. But I guess they are destined.

This is my first book by this author. Although this is a relatively short book it is packed full of a great story. I will be looking forward to reading the next horsemans story.

Flower Shields (A Four Horseman Novel Book 1) by C.A. King

I was introduced to C. A. King from her other stories ( The Portal Prophecies) and have been searching for other books by her. She is an amazing writer. She loves to keep the reader wanting more and more. This story did not disappoint. She weaves her character stories like a well laid spider web. Once you are starting on the web and want to step away that is when the web get more inviting and you go further on the web.

This world has gods, demigods, and demons residing among everyone. Tara's character is coming into her own. She is starting to explore more and more to find out who she is. She does not have "street smarts" and is a bit naive about the world. She knows there is more than what meets the eye. Michael is a guardian gates of hell. He is swore to protect so no one can get through. Michael is having a hard time with Tara because there romantic feelings coming to the service. Tara and Michael's stories are separate but yet intertwined together. The other details I will let you find out as you read this wonderful story.

C.A. King does it again and I cannot wait for the other stories.

Flower Shields (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 1) by CA King is her first book in her A Four Horsemen series. This book is a paranormal story with demigods and demons. This is another awesome book by this author. I know every time I pick up this author's books, I know that I am in for a journey that I won't be able to put down. This one is no different and she did not let me down. I read her story in one night, I just couldn't put it down. I loved her creativeness for details that make this story flows. Her writing style is such that she will pull you in from the first word until the very last. Her characters in this story are connectable and lovable. They will pull you into their world of demigods and demons like no other. This is the story of Tara and the four horsemen. Tara has not had the easiest life and is now looking for a job. When an old family friend offers her a job, she accepts not realizing what she is in for. She seems to have a stocker but not sure why or who he is. Is she safe? In walks Michael, one of the horsemen. His job is to keep the gates of hell safe. The only way to open the gates is by the four keys. What does Tara have to do with any of this? Could she be a key holder? When Tara finds out about who she really is, will she understand? These are two strong characters that you will fall in love with. Tara reminds me of this tiny little mouse with everyone until she is put to the test. Then a rage seems to pop out and she finds courage she doesn't normally seem to have. Michael is the handsome horsemen who is feisty, likes to grumble to himself, and likes Tara but won't admit to it. He is determined to keep the gates of hell closed and to keep Tara safe. The secondary characters in this story are just as strong. Some are not who they really seem to be. We get to meet the other three horsemen in this book but we don't really see to much from them. I can't wait for the next books in this series to see more of them. All of the characters really make this story for what it is, it wouldn't be the same without them. There are a few of twists and turns in this story that you won't believe until you read them but they will keep you reading. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see what happens to Tara and Michael!

This book has it all. Gods, Demons, major conflict, and love. The initial story of the four horsemen, Uri, Gabby, Raphael, and Michael starts out with a bang. This story focused on Michael and Tara and it was good. Watching them fall in love, having to overcome the many problems was a joy, I love happy endings. I look forward to the future novels and each of the other horsemen find their love as well.
