Minerva is a graduate student writing her thesis on horror in literature. Specifically, she is writing about Beatrice Tremblay, a female horror writer, who went mostly unnoticed. Minerva grew up listening to her grandmother Alba’s stories about witches and the dark side. She’s always loved horror in books and movies. In this story, we follow three different timelines - Minerva’s in 1998, Beatrice Tremblay in 1934, and Alba in 1908. Each timeline has its own spooky and paranormal incidences. I didn’t find this book to be scary at all, yet there was some great atmosphere. I really enjoyed each timeline and it’s own story. I think this might be my favorite Silvia Moreno-Garcia book yet.
