I guess the multi-issue fever dream arc slightly edges out the Professor Pyg story, but therein lies the problem with this collection.

Man, Kate just can't win. It's one hit after another.

The Scarecrow arc had some cool character moments (though they depend heavily on the additional backstory that was given on Vol. 1) and some great art that enhanced the nightmare setting intended for the arc. Overall, I liked it a lot.

The final issue is sort of bland; just another rethread on the themes we saw in the earlier issues. Still, I don't feel like Kate's story is close to being done, but since the next one is the last trade, I'm guessing this was the bridge to a longer story that was cut short.

I love personal arcs, characters coming to accept hard truths about themselves, embracing their personalities or deciding to finally change. So yeah, I did like to see Kate conflicted about her past, her fears, her failures.
I especially liked how she embraces her darkness, but towards the end realizes it's time to change her idea about justice. Because yes, you should change it, Kate.

Anyway, Safiyah is such a queen and I wished we had had more about her story with Kate.
