This book reminds me of Three Balls of Wool and The Best Tailor in Pinbaue in that color and art make a difference in an otherwise bland environment. In this case, the community rallies around a stranger and girl who begin creating murals together. I wish the muralist was not a stranger to the girl, who was completely open to him without caution. Otherwise, it was a great story about how little things can make a difference in the ripples they cause.

I love the idea behind this book which is making the world a better place. I really enjoyed the true story pages at the back of the book. This book didn't capture mine or my kids' attention.

You, my friends, are all artists. The world is your canvas.

Just a beautiful short story about a community coming together to make something beautiful of their city once again.
(Good read aloud for a messy art project/craft)

I didn't know this was a true story!!! Read this book for the story and the illustrations but stay for the author's note. Rafael López and his wife started the Urban Art Trail in San Diego with just the idea to add color to their neighborhood. And man, is it beautiful! (And I've been chastising myself for not reading this and knowing about it before going to San Diego!)

Okay, fine, every book I read this week made me cry. This was so very sweet, the story of a community coming together to make the world brighter. This is based on a true story and the illustrator is the real life muralist the book is based on!
