Thank you to @readforeverpub for the digital ARC. I didn't get to read it before pub date, so I added it to my #backlistbooks24 challenge. I've been on a cowboy romance kick lately, reading books by Elsie Silver and Lyla Sage. What makes The Cowboy Whisperer stand out is the representation of Mexican-Americans and Mexicans. I loved all the little Spanish words and the big family celebrations. The Ortega family is pretty great and I want their family recipes. There were a few predictable moments and I felt like one aspect of the ending was a little unbelievable, but overall it was a fun rugged ranch read with great Hispanic representation and hot cowboy.

🤭LOVED THIS BOOK!
A Latinx Romance with both Mexican main characters! She is hiding out & training at his family ranch where they don’t get along at the beginning! She seemed really snobby at the beginning 😭😂 but I got over it the more I got to know her! And he was just such a gentleman but also no se dejaba! 👏🏼 there’s fake dating which led to them realizing they were falling for each other 🥹 also, the family dynamic in this book was beautiful! There were so many mentions of food & just being close with ur family! I loved it! AND THE COMMUNICATION 😮‍💨😌 loved that there wasn’t miscommunication with them! Can’t wait for the next book!
Keep in mind it is close door! So no 🌶️ and also trigger warning for parent with cancer!

Okay, ordinarily there is no way that I would read a cowboy romance; it’s just not my thing, but…. I got an email from Forever and this book was in the list, and it mentioned 1992’s The Cutting Edge, and that was it - I was immediately sold. Immediately (I absolutely loved that movie when it came out and forced my teenagers to watch it with me, and while they weren’t particularly impressed, my own love has remained) and I requested it right away.

Thankfully, I was approved and began to read. Again, cowboy romance has never been appealing to me, so I was rather surprised by how much I enjoyed this one and cared about the characters - I'll be reading more by Ms Sol.

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the DRC

This is a quiet, closed-door romance, and I loved every minute of it. Tomas has dedicated his life to the horses at his family's ranch, Rancho Lindo. With the ranch in a precarious financial position, he is willing to accommodate the wealthy Veronica and keep her happy. Veronica is trying to avoid the public eye as she prepares for equestrian Olympic qualifiers. These two have past traumas, but they lean on each other to work through them in an open, even if at first guarded way. This is very much a slow burn, but the magic is in watching these two get to know each other and let go of first impressions. There is also a small section of fake dating that is handled so well that the transition to real dating is completely seamless and believable.

If you did not read the first Rancho Lindo books, you can still jump right in and not miss much, but if you did read the first book, we do get to see the couple from the first book here, and it is lovely. I very much loved this return to the world of Mexican-American cowboys.

This was my first book by Sol and I really enjoyed it. Her book was heavy on the importance of family in Latino culture and I loved it. I also loved the various Latino meals and all the Spanish mixed in.

I also loved the horse culture in this book. I really liked how he was a horse whisperer and helped her learn what her horse needed and how he even helped her learn about her own anxiety. The representation in this book was well done even though it wasn't the main topic of the book.

Fake dating is a hard trope to do well and she really did a great job with the transition from fake to real. I love how their love grew in the pages if this book.

If you're looking for a good closed door but still incredibly romantic book this is for you. I look forward to reading more of her books.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

You know I was thinking Cowboy romances weren't for me, but when they are written by Latine authors I love them.

Tomas is trying hard to save the Family Ranch, Rancho Lindo. He hates the idea of the famous Olympic Equestrian coming to train at Rancho Lindo, but they can't really deny any business. At first, Veronica and Tomas get off on the wrong foot but slowly they get to know each other and see that they pretty much care about the same things.  When Tomas ex-girlfriend comes into town, he makes up a girlfriend. So Veronica needs to take advantage of this and forces Tomas to pick her so he can train her. Of course they fall in love.

I loved this story so much. I loved the family, I loved the connection between Veronica and Tomas.  They both loved the same things. I wanted to punch Tomas when his fears took over, but he had to build the bridge, get over it and find the love of his life.

I can't wait to read more by Sabrina Sol.

Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc version of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
