This is the first book by Edgar Cantero that I read and wow what a talent. His talent and skill with words outshines most English writing authors and then it’s eclipse when you realize that’s his second language. The book is heavily inspired by Scooby-doo and it’s even better than meant reimagining of the original inspiration. The book is definitely aimed at a late GenX/Millennial crowd with its references to pop culture, video game slang, and punchy witty Buffy-esque dialogue. Even if you aren’t particularly fond of Scooby-doing and its formula I still would highly recommend it.

Probably more of a 1.5/5 for me. I really thought I was going to like this book, and I'm at first I did! I'm a sucker for nostalgia, and this book obviously has Scooby Doo written all over it. But somewhere between a third and half of the way in, it really lost my interest and I struggled to finish. It could have been the style of writing in combination with the story. I didn't like the random screenplay-like bits scattered throughout the novel. Like I said, I really thought this was going to be an enjoyable one for me, so it was really a bummer. (Side note: great cover art!)

Lovely 'Easter eggs' from Scooby Doo to be found throughout. The characters are similar, but thankfully not dupes of the OG. Rather slow moving at times, thankfully a bit of humor helps, but it took longer to finish as I kept going to faster books while reading.
