a thoughtful, gloomy end to a really incredible trilogy. knowing padmé’s fate (and anakin’s fate) and how close this book is to that fate, gives this book a depressing sense of impending doom that shows itself in a variety of different ways. it leaves me wanting to reread the epilogue in queen’s shadow after padmé’s funeral, and i want a book devoted entirely to sabé’s subsequent journey. overall i feel so full and so happy after having read this series, i love and adore padmé and her handmaidens

it wasn’t a painful read but i feel like nothing happened? like right when things started going and i was like “oh now this will ramp up into something” i looked at how much was left and realized no, that was the climax. i think at best this book was a collection of fun headcanons with a semblance of a plot tying them loosely together.
