A young girl leaves Taiwan (and her beloved Popo) to move to America. Amid the huge transition, the young girl's love for her Popo stays with her. Through phone calls and the occasional visit, they stay in touch...but their love is strong, lasting through Popo's sickness and death.

Beautiful illustrations that highlight Taiwan's landscapes and culture. A celebration of grandmothers and the relationship between grandmother and granddaughter.

This was such a sweet book.
Personally, it was so much more relatable than all the dragon dancing books I've leafed through.

A lovely book perfect for all ages dealing with immigration and separation from family. The language barrier explanation/illustrations are nice, and the glossary in the back makes this a well-rounded picture book.
