Narratively so, so interesting. I love the structure so much. I loved going through the POVs of each sister, I loved the interrupting chapters telling the POV of an older Dede and her relationship with her sisters’ children. You know what’s in store for the other three sisters but you know that you need to hear their stories. It’s a beautiful book.

I enjoyed this book but felt it didn't do the subject matter justice. These women were murdered for their opposition to the corrupt government but the book seems too light for such a serious subject. The writing is good and the book is an easy read. If you want to know about the sacrifices these women made and what they were up against you would be better off googling the Mirabal sisters of the Dominican Republic.

A fascinating and beautifully written novel about the real lives of four sister (three would become martyrs for the cause of liberty) in Dominican. It is amazing what people will give to be free from oppressive dictatorship.
