Another book I read while working at B&N. Pretty interesting but not memorable.

I just hate this book. It had no resolve in the end. I don't even get the point of it. So this police officer gets shot and he knows who did it but that guy is arrested or anything. Things were getting crazy, this family had to have like 10 guards protecting them and then they had a giant 8 foot fence put around their house and the investigators don't do shit about arresting the guy that shot John. I just got bored with this book and only had to read it for school or else I would have never read this.

This is a true story of a police officer who was targeted by a local thug, shot in the head, and it changed the family's life forever. The story is written by the daughter and father (police officer). The story itself was intriguing, however the writing felt a bit shallow. Then I realized that I was reading a young adult novel! Ha ha! The chapters by the daughter are written more skillfully than the chapters written by the father, but of course, he's not an author by trade so I don't think it is a fair criticism. All in all, interesting and quick read.

I enjoyed this book. This is quite a story. The book is well-written. It does go back and forth between Cylin and her dad, but at least in the audiobook, it’s obvious who is writing what. I do wish they had talked a bit more about what life was like after they moved, and if they ever reconnected with old friends.

This was an incredible story. I really enjoyed seeing two perspectives of the experience. I also really enjoyed the "Where are they now?" information and the interview with Cylin and John. That part especially answered some of the questions I still had after the book was over.

I thought this book was a great story, considering it was true. It is exceptionally sad what happened to this family and evening more surprising with how the police department handled it. The epilogue did help explain what questions I was left with at the end, as well as what happened to most of the people in the story.

I enjoyed the parts from the daughter's perspective. There was too much unnecessary detail in the father's version.

I think the title is kinda misleading, but it's still an interesting story.
