What a delightful read. Set on the sunny island of Oh, how could it not be? What starts with a forgotten birthday ends with a madcap arrest and championship. Hapless hero and customs officer Raoul finds himself sorting his way through a swamp of clues he didn't know, at first, he needed, but with the help of the witchy jeweler, he realizes his way. Selectively shared secrets, a soccer tournament, valuable artifacts, egos, counterfeit bills, magic gemstones and an imagined menage a quatre all play into a tidy culmination that amazes me in it's creation. As hard as it is for us readers to figure out how all the pieces fit together, imagine the "picture" the author had to jigsaw apart to begin with? Oh, and there are pineapples!

On a side note, I think this is a perfect read for those who loved "A Man Called Ove" .. He an Raoul shared many endearing (and annoying) traits.
