It unfortunately promised more than it gave. I enjoyed the set up in the first half, but the horror fell short for me? The ending was nice I suppose, but wasn't a fan of the journey getting there.

I think my main issue was that I think there needed to be a better "reason" why the main character wanted to stay in Spar Creek. Like, I get it, to an extent, but so many times while reading this I was like, who cares about these stupid people like just LEAVE please. But then there wouldn't be a story, but then brings me to my point to where, again, there needed to be better reasons why the main character stayed, especially since why invite someone to your town, but to then treat them like shit? And I 100% get that people have prejudice, but from a storytelling angle, I think a slow burn of hatred would've been better.
