Unpopular opinion - I did not enjoy Hostage like I hope I would. The pace was a bit too slow for my liking. I love a good suspense/thriller that makes me jump, toss and turn in my bed. Sadly, this did not deliver for me personally.

I brought this book on vacation with me, not really thinking about the plot… then found myself on a 6 hour flight and half way through realized I made a mistake! 

This book is a take on the classic ethics question of switching the train tracks. Do you let the train continue on to hit the one person who means something to you so you can save many strangers? Or do you sacrifice the strangers to save someone you love?

In my opinion, this book was just too on the nose about a lot of things. Environmentalism, politics, ethics, gambling, etc. it was a good book but I wasn’t wowed in the slightest.
