I love this series, but this one is my favorite yet. That probably has something to do with the subject matter--this time the conflict centers around the students' outrage when their elective classes are eliminated in favor of a lame video-driven program that's supposed to help increase their scores on their state standards tests. I thought this book did a great job of bringing the issue to the middle grade level, helping to illustrate the conflict between test-driven education and enriching education programs that encompass a variety of subjects instead of focusing on drill and kill testing skills. It made good fodder for conversation between me and my daughter. Really looking forward to the continuation of the epic battle in the next installment.

Another great installment. I am not sure how I feel about the cliff hanger, but I continue to look forward to the next book and Way to go Mr. Howell.

Looking forward to reading this one to the kids. All of these books are best read out loud to an appreciative audience.

This one dragged a little for me at times, but I liked the anti-standardized tests mission of the kids.

I love that the kids fought for something they felt was unfair, and they did it in a kind way. I laughed out loud as much as I did with the other books!

I felt like the kids in the books really started to come together as a community to try to better their school in the third book above all others.

Standardized tests suck. The students at Lucas County Middle School have had their elective classes cancelled. Instead, they go to an arduous 'fun time', designed to increase their test scores. Will the dark side prevail?
