I really liked Sheriff Laine Stenley when I read A Subtle Breeze and was happy to see that he got his own book. He's a complex character who carries around an awful lot of baggage. It was nice to see him meet his match in a much smaller, much less reserved partner. Severo was adorable and a lot of fun. His being able to speak with the dead ought to come in handy later in this series, I'm sure. I can't wait to see what's up next.
