I received this book for my honest review from NetGalley.

I did not read the first book in this series. I will say reading the first book is definitely important. There is even a disclaimer at the beginning of the book stating how this are not standalone.

I am giving this book only 4 stars due to the fact that I started in the middle which I in no way fault the author for. Even thought I started in the middle of this series it was still a good book. I had to piece together some things. The characters are well thought out and there is alot of action in this book. It's not a sit still and learn all about the characters book, which I assume the first one was?

It took a while for this book to get into the swing of things for me, but the ending totally made up for any shortcomings. Having allowed for Blaze's escape, Asha is caught by Talon again. Under the guise of trying to help her, Talon works to bind her to himself and break the bond between her and Blaze. Jaku is finally opening his eyes to the monster Talon really is like and it disgusts him, but doesn't stop him from still wanting him. Though his loyalty to Asha at the end was surprising. Blaze wakes up in an unfamiliar room after being brought back to his castle. I kind of expected him to have a sort of crash course of his powers to prepare him for all he will face, but we didn't get that. In fact, Blaze is fed only bits and pieces of information as he goes. We are introduced to a few more demons and a few of them are pretty cool in their own way. Blaze is still working up to his transformation when he finds out that Asha is the key to completing it. At a parley with Talon, things go downhill fast. But it's thanks to Talon's arrogance in doing the one thing Blaze would never do and had forbid his demons to do that Blaze finally becomes the burning prince that the demons have been waiting for.

I really can't wait to read the last book and find out how this series will end.

Oh, and one thing that would be nice to find out too is what part Blaze's grandmother played in this whole thing. Like, who was she REALLY? Because she knew an awful lot about all these things...
