This was a solid book. I really enjoyed the characters. I thought they were so charming, funny, and were well fleshed-out. The author's ability to give his character's an authentic voice of an elderly person (especially Joyce) was excellent! Also, such a wonderful and unique setting and cast of characters. Loved them!

I really enjoyed the cozy mystery plot! There was a lot going on, but the author tied everything together so well and the whole story came together beautifully to click into place at the end. Some mystery/thriller books give us so much information that is never revisited. So I appreciate that Richard Osman had a reason for every plot point.

Character development, plot, setting, pacing, writing, and audio narration were all excellent! Excited to continue on in the series!

More like 2.8 stars if I really had to give a rating. The book reads like a TV manuscript which really took me out of what was happening. The author does work in television though so I guess I can see why it’s written like that. It feels like he doesn’t want anyone correctly guessing the story so he made every single named character important, which led to me being very confused in the final 100 pages. I wanted to like this book because the premise sounded really interesting and some of the writing about old age and death was genuinely interesting, but I don’t see me reading any of his other books in this series.
