It was so exciting to finally read a book by Agatha Christie. Crime and thriller novels have changed since 1939. The story is a simple and straightforward “who did it?” and yet still, I was surprised by the ending. This book is definitely a classic.

One of the best mysteries I have ever read. Christie's writing manages to pull you in, makes you suspicious, confused and leaves you second guessing every characters abilities and motives. She knows her audience, knows how readers will react and think about certain developments and calls them out on it. The answer is right there all along but the clues left to discover are so cleverly and creatively disguised that they never let you form a solid guess about who did it. Nothing makes sense until it does, every twist seems unforeseeable, nothing ties together until it does.

4 killer stars

This was such a fun read. The book alternates POVs so often, so you get everyone's perspectives at once. The suspense was great- though I did figure out the killer pretty quickly. Even still, the writing kept me on the edge of my sit and I was flinching whenever I heard a sound during the night, due to the writing being so...ominous (?).

It's a great concept and the execution is very admirable. Even if you figure out the killer, you'll still thoroughly enjoy this one.
