was anyone else really weirded out by the part where Stephan is thinking about the potentially incestuous history of his classmate’s parentage?? it was a little fetishising to me..:
the second half of this book was my fave!! i loved the part about the mothers love and about how much Stephan had changed from his boyhood. it was a little dense in the middle however, which brought the rating down for me

“Yes, I liked her today. A little or much? Don't know. I liked her and it seems a new feeling to me. Then, in that case, all the rest, all that I thought I thought and all that I felt I felt, all the rest before now, in fact... O, give it up old chap! Sleep it off.”

more effective than sleeping meds. though the language kept me coming back every night. Until I finished— now I don’t think I will pick up Ulysses anytime soon. Probably for the better because I too do not need any more God fearing instilled

I really enjoyed this book however I did make the mistake of reading this in english. I usually have no problems with that but this book is filled with phrases and words that went over my head to a point where it was echausting to read because I would be focusing on translating rather than understanding the story.

Besides that I can tell that this book is quite great and a really interesting exploration of an artist and young man. But I will keep this one unrated until i reread it in my mother tongue at some point.

A book that actually made me interested in religious topics. Stream of conciousness made me a bit really confused sometimes and there were many vague statements but I also adore that. So much latin tho!!

I think I'm going to need a second read on this one... I wanted to love it, but it just didn't do it for me.
