3.5. After a very slow start it finally picked up and caught my interest. Then once I got caught up in it, part of the ending changed my whole perspective on the story and characters. I felt a little betrayed, but the best books are the ones that leave you thinking about them long after you have finished them.

I enjoyed this book, it’s not my favourite by Sarah Goodwin but it is just as gripping and atmospheric as her other books. Maybe the plot was a bit far fetched but it was a quick, enjoyable read nonetheless! 3.5 stars.

The only good thing about this thriller was the fact that it gave you a premise which kept you interested enough to continue reading. I really wasn’t keen on the writing those first few chapters, but it did get better and I feel it could’ve been good and uniform throughout if it had gone through some more editing. My biggest qualm though was that for the majority of the book we’re in the protagonist’s head, and the dialogue is very few and far between. Now, I wouldn’t mind this if the protagonist was actually a really interesting character and if the thoughts they were having were equally as interesting. But with this story, it’s just the same inner monologue on repeat and while I was reading, I was just like, okay, we get it, can we please move on?!
