I’m surprised by the high ratings. This one was a “meh” for me. Good character studies, great teamwork, a so-so murder mystery, and a frustrating but realistic untidy ending. What one could imagine is that the compelling evidence would bring all the culprits in, ultimately.
Anyway, I’ll continue on with the next one as I like the team, and the Superintendent is stereotypically annoying but not too much.

I always enjoy an audio Peter Grainger mystery! This is no exception. The characters are becoming so defined, it's like meeting new people in your social group, knowing their background and their problems and joys.

Audible free, third in series, quite good, very well written wry banter. Worth rereading just to study how that's done in the economy of language used. Wanted to rate it a 5.0, may come back later and change that, would have liked for the third bad guy to get caught but it didn't turn out that way this time. Not sure why authors do this, not wrap it up completely.

DC Smith is at it again. This detailed police procedural investigates a death on a North Sea gas platform. What seems at first like a simple accidental death turns out to be something more. Smith and his rag tag group of investigators ferret out the truth and smooth the way for the citizens they encounter. I appreciated the integrity of the investigators as they revealed their information, always concerning themselves with the lives of the ancillary characters.
