Bees in the City was about an important topic - saving the bees. However, the bright, whimsical illustrations didn’t match the serious, informational tone of the story.

***I received an ARC from Edelweiss for my honest review***
Liked it more for the theme than for the story. A little long for storytime.

Lionel lives in an apartment in Paris. He eagerly looks forward to helping take care of bees with his Aunt Celine on a farm outside the city. Then his aunt calls with bad news: her bees can't find a diversity of plants and they are dying. Lionel has an idea to help.
I love several things about this story. Lionel is a child, but he is actively learning about caring for bees. He sees a problem and he is able to take action to help alleviate the problem. Lionel is able to get consensus within the community to take action. He brings the community in his apartments together to solve the problem.
