I know this is probably supposed to be an interesting character study of a woman dealing with a lot of conflicting emotions surrounding her father, who kidnapped her mother when she was 14, but all I've read so far is coming across as a bit victim-blamey. The main character seems determined to defend all of her father's decisions, including his need to kidnap a woman to be his wife because 'how else was he supposed to find someone?'. I'm just not a fan, and judging by other reviews, this mentality persists in the character throughout the story, as well as many hunting scenes which I'm very much not here for.

I would be interested to know how Native American reviewers feel about the Native American 'representation' in here, as to me it seemed like it was very much written from a white viewpoint and most definitely didn't need to be there.
