There is something about these books that draws me in. The writing isn't amazing, but it is decent. I think it might that the concept of this book is so intriguing, like nothing I have ever read before (besides the 2 books before it). Violet, Jay, and the rest of the characters are dazzling. What caused me to really rate this book so highly was the twist at the end. I knew that psychiatrist wasn't harmless and had an ulterior motive. Now I have to wait till next year to find out who really is behind all this and the threat. I can hardly wait.

This book is giving me anxiety. I love Jay, don't get me wrong, but the more I learn about Rafe, the more I love him too. Curse you Kimberly Derting for making me this conflicted. I really enjoyed the parts from the collector's perspective (even though that probably sounds really creepy). His character development was very well done. That epilogue is going to keep me up at night though....

I’ve been meaning to read this book forever, but I finally got to it. And I’m glad I did.
I was a little under enthused with the last book, as it was a bit forgettable. This book was better, I’m happy to say.
The romance was a little downplayed in emotion, though. I still like Jay, but I was definitely feeling the attraction between Violet and Rafe, and surprisingly even seeing the good side of them being together instead. But mostly the romance, the feelings on Violet’s side, just weren’t really coming through for me. I wanted them to, but I wasn’t fully feeling it.
I didn’t remember anything about Rafe or Sara from the previous book. But I liked them. I liked most of the gang, although Gemma’s backstory, Derting’s trying to give her a background and reason, didn’t really work for me. She was still a jerk, and I didn’t really understand why. I definitely saw why Violet would stay with them, though. She related to them in a way that she doesn’t with anyone else, and she needs that.
The mystery in this book, the murderer, was very powerful, though. I saw why he was the way he was, and was still thoroughly creeped out by him. After everything that happened with Violet and him, I understand her decisions. It was intense and violent and scarring. Which makes the ending even more exciting, more interesting.
I believe the next book is the last, and I’m interested to see what happens in it.

Violet is working with a team of psychics to help solve serial murders. She is working a particular case with a serial kidnapper/murderer of college girls. There is the typical love triangle found in so many YA books, but the ending was great and makes me want to see how Violet can live with a particular imprint.
(Somehow I missed book 2 but since it had been a while since reading book 1, I thought any reference to book 2 was in reference to book 1.)

I feel like the fact that this took me over a year to finish explains my rating more than any review ever could.
I really wish I’d finished this series when I was younger. It just doesn’t do anything for me anymore.

This book was just amazing. It had so many elements but some how the author was able to tie them all together and make a brilliant story out of it. There was just enough mystery that sometimes you had to guess things for yourself but it didn't take too much to figure it out and that's just the way I like it. I don't like the author spoon feeding me everything so it was nice to have an element of mystery in this book. Everything was explained eventually but sometimes not until a chapter or two later or sometimes 10 chapters later. Some things went unexplained but they weren't large parts of the story and it sort of added to the ending. I was only partly satisfied with the ending though. I really hope there is another book because if it just ends with Violet being forced into the 'team' again I really wouldn't like it.

The Last Echo is the third book in The Body Finder series. In this sequel, the story focuses on Violet, who begins to actively work with FBI agents because of her special ability to feel the 'echoes' of dead people or their killers.
Before I read this, I secretly hoped that Violet's personality would get better. Her stupid actions, reckless behavior, and her way of thinking have caused me to feel really annoyed. In the end, it’s getting worse. I had to skim through many pages to just focus on the plot. The plot itself is actually confusing because we had two different villains, and I don't know what the purpose of one of them is.
However, half stars are for the FBI's special' team. I liked their unique personalities, and their abilities were cool! Well, there's one more book to read, and I will still read it next despite my low rating. Because the ending has some surprising elements (but tbh it feels kinda forced). Cross my fingers for better Violet, and hopefully, we get to see more of the team’s personalities.

Really it's a 4.5/5 stars, because it was really really good but I've promised myself to save my 5/5 star books for ones that truly grip me... And this one didn't. By saying that, it was a great book. It was. But it didn't have me going to work only thinking about it, constantly worrying about the characters. It just didn't.
Now back to the book, I was initially really hesitant with the whole "team" thing. It felt contrived and I was way more comfy with Violet having a solo gift. Now it's turning into an X-Men kinda gig, which is cool but done before. Regardless, I did enjoy this book more than it's predecessor. And I look forward to the final installment, hopefully the next one has more Jay in it because let's be serious he's been severely lacking lately in appearances.
