A lot of people seem heap a lot of hate on this book. "It's not like Grisham's other books." "True Grisham fans won't like this." "It's not a novel it is a collection of short stories." This last one, by the way, is stated by folks who seem to be unaware of the concept of the composite novel. Ever heard of One Thousand and One Nights? The Canterbury Tales? Rogue Lawyer is most certain a composite novel with a central protagonist. And it is a fun read. It's not heavy stuff. But it is - as with most of Grisham's novels - interesting stuff. If you like Grisham's style and the way to both pokes fun at and pays homage to our troubled legal system, chances are you are going to enjoy this book.

Does everyone give Grisham 5 stars every time. I do!! Rudd is one of my favourite characters and I hope he writes another dozen books with him in it. I love Rudd and not just because the police hate him!!

Attorney Sebastian Rudd works out of a customized bulletproof van and only one employee, his driver, who's also his bodyguard, law clerk, confidant, and golf caddy. His primary piece of furniture is a vintage pool table. He drinks small-batch bourbon and carries a gun.
 Clients:
a tattooed kid accused of molesting and murdering two little girls;
a  crime lord on death row;
a homeowner arrested for shooting at a SWAT team that broke into his house
A cage fighter who killed a ref.
It was a good set of stories and interesting story lines. I would read this again in the future.
Keep for a reread.

This almost felt like an odd collection of short stories that loosely tied in together with a very abrupt ending. Still enjoyable but not super cohesive.

I would give it a strong 3. It was never boring to read. But it was not great either. Felt like every challenge that was thrown at the main character was solved way to easily. It almost felt as if it originally was a collection of short stories that has been put together into one book, and then some strings to connect the different stories. It was a fun read, but nothing special.
