Apparently I read this book already, and I don't remember this entry to the series. I can kinda see why that was.

It was good, but I prefer Luke’s storyline over Nina’s.

I actually enjoyed this one a lot more. It was darker and more mysterious. The character was a bit annoying and naive but It was part of the story so it fit well.

Reread/Audiobook

I remembered this one and the first book the most. I remember nothing about the latter half of this series.

I missed Luke. Nina really did feel like a 13 year old which was annoying but refreshing. I feel like most young main characters never feel young when you're in their head. But of course, that meant you were reading in someone's head with the emotional intelligence and maturity of a 13 year old. It was funny to have a male narrator for Nina's book.

Book 3 in the Shadow Children series. This series would be acceptable for any age child to read and yet it is still interesting enough for adults. Very short books which is nice once in awhile!

3 1/2 stars. The books in this series can be read in just an hour or two (or three) each, making them a great choice for reluctant older elementary and young adult readers.

This was an exciting, fast-paced read with many plot twists that kept me guessing and turning the pages until the conclusion. This book departed from the first two with a change in protagonist. I am not sure if that is the reason, but I enjoyed the first two books slightly more than this one. That being said, I plan to continue on with the series.
