Several days ago, I finally started reading a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories on my Kindle and absolutely loved them. I promptly downloaded several other free versions of Sherlock Holmes tales and began reading further. Upon a trip to Barnes & Noble, I saw this collection including many tales I had not had a chance to read for only $8 and had to have the collection for my bookshelf. I look forward to reading more of these stories.

There is some problematic stuff but not as much as I was expecting.
The first two collections of short stories are a bit slow to start, and while I think overall Agatha Christie and later authors manage mystery much better than this, it's interesting to see an early pillar of the genre.

Decided to kind of DNF this book, more on the edition since it’s difficult to read and the book is massive to hold properly. So I decided just to read the penguin classic books; there’s 9 novels in total and also penguin classic tend to be on the cheaper side so I’m just going to get those edition. Hopefully sell this edition but I doubt it since I wrote in it but it’s okay if it in donation since it was apparently $9 which shocked me when I founded out since it’s a huge book but I guess it makes sense since the letters were so tiny that I doubt people bought this edition. Also I think I’m not going to get these type of collection books since they are usually really big so I’m also going to sell my “Ghost Stories collection book too since I just don’t have an interest in it and also I did buy this on a whim. I might kept my Grimm brothers tales collection since those are hard to get individually and also I am interested in reading it; also it’s not huge like those other books so it would be pretty easy to read, we’ll just see.

My dad got this for me because I love Sherlock Holmes and it was only 7 dollars at Walmart! Yay for me :D I hope that I will enjoy the start of a subject that I love. (and understand it!) June 2013

Well over a year later I have finally finally finished A Study in Scarlet. I'm happy I finished this one because it was getting to the point where the beginning was fuzzy for me. This is definitely a book for people who wish to expand there vocabulary. I bring a dictionary with me when I read this. Unlike some older books in the past that I have tried this didn't confuse me with its terms. Of course it was harder than normal to read and it did challenge me but it wasn't dated because of its terms(The Great Gatsby is a good example of a book that I had a hard time getting into because of this.)
The story was interesting and I enjoyed it. The clues Sherlock needs to find in order to figure out the crime are obtuse enough that it is expected most won't find them and relevant enough to make sense to pay attention to. I'm looking forward to the next one The Sign of Four.
On a side note one phrase my smut fulled mind read with great pleasure was this
"Simple! I ejaculated." <--- This made me giggle for so long. I'm such a perv. Now onward Watson it is time for the hunt!

Well, this book actually contains all of the Sherlock Holmes stories, 1000+ pages with really tiny print— I confess, I only read “The Hound Of The Baskervilles”. It was awesome! I love the characters of Holmes and Watson, and I love the writing style of Sir Arthur.
