Great short biographies of some incredible people. A lot of them are lesser known people and I hadn't even heard of over half of them before in my life. Each story is just a snapshot of the very beginnings and highlights of each person, but the text is very interactive with more info, such as a little bubble timeline, lots of great photos, and a "In his/her time" snapshots of the history going on while each person was alive. A fascinating read that would be enjoyed aloud by teachers/parents to elementary school children or independently by upper-elementary to middle school students.

I had not read about most of these folks before, and was fascinated by their struggles and accomplishments. The chapters were short enough that single people could be shared in the classroom.

Sparse looks at some pretty fascinating characters, but I think the source list would be invaluable for those kids who are looking to dig up some more research.
