DNF-ed audiobook at 12% because "chosen one at magic school with significant childhood trauma from the last magic war is bullied by magic professor who seems to have it out for him for Reasons" as a trope has not aged well for me.

Honestly, this is just a rip off of Harry Potter and every other young-adult novel ever :(

I actually did love this book (although you can tell that from the 5 stars I gave it).
Well, what did I think about it? At first, it violently reminded me of Harry Potter, and even The Mortal Instruments in some places. 2 boys, 1 girl. One school, a little magic. Smiling professor, tall and mysterious. (Master Rufus kinda resembled Dumbledore, at first).
But then I read on; and wow.

Fire wants to burn.
Water wants to flow.
Air wants to rise.
Earth wants to bind.
And chaos, chaos wants to devour.

B E A U T I F U L.
I was hooked from the start (probably because the prologue was better than many a books I have read; also the father, Alastair Hunt, is hot as fuck. I mean, look at the name- Alastair.) The book was amazing, I think, and that's me saying; me, who had 5,900 doubts about it.
Callum is one of the best protagonists I have read, he is simple, stupid, annoying but most importantly, good. Tamara is such a spot on character (although she is one of the main things that reminded me of the Harry Potter resemblance- Hermonie Granger 2.0.). By the end, however, she wasn't like Hermonie all that much. Aaron; my dear god. !!!SPOILER ALERT!!!! Who in the name of heavens expected him to turn out to be one of Chaos Mages? Certainly not me. I was mind-blown. Amazing.

And THEN Callum being the Constantine dude? (The Enemy of Death is hot, I gotta say. I mean, the original guy. Not Call.) WOAH. DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. AT ALL. I WAS LIKE WTF did I read that correctly? I feel bad for people who haven't/won't read this book. They're missing out on so much, I'm crying.
And the whole "one of Call+Tamara+Aaron is dead, will die, will fail" prophecy. Woah. Is Callum the one *dead*? Because the Enemy of Death sort of died??? But it doesn't really make sense, since he didn't die. But Callum died at birth? But Callum wasn't there in Magisterium, so the prophecy didn't mean him? What is going on? Is Tamara "the one dead"? Since she freaks just about every time it gets mentioned? And The One Who Fails? Is that like Aaron, meaning he fails his task/responsibility of saving the whole entire universe? Or does it mean Call; as in, he meant to /not/ be Constantine but, he will fail, and thus be Constantine? Or does it mean Tamara, as in she fails her want/need to do good, however way she does it? And The One Who Dies? Ideally, it could be Aaron/Callum since both are meant to be against each other, also chaos magic is dangerous. But, just for the idea of surprise, it could be Tamara? I'm so so obsessed with this book now; and the second book will come out God Knows When.

Suffice to say, job well done Holly and CASSIE.

In the begining i was think this book wan's t going to be all thay much but boy was I wrong. In the end I really enjoyed it. I really liked the trio even tho call still pissed me of sometimes but I'm really curious to see how al of this turns out in the end. Jasper pissed me of like sh*t and I can't even start about Alastair the sob.
