Abigail makes it clear to Gage that she is fully capable of going with him and his team on the adventure. Gage has issues with her going along, but eventually gives in. Abigail is a strong woman and I always enjoy books with a strong female character. I love how she is willing to do what is necessary to follow her dreams. The chemistry between Abigail and Gage is HOT like you can feel the sizzle coming off the page HOT. The Last Mile is the second installment in the Blood Ties series and you can't help but love this series. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

A treasure map, a treasure hunter, the Devil’s Gold, suspense, romance and a lot of twists and turns.

Abby Holland inherits a treasure from her beloved grandfather, King Farrell. Farrell was a famed explorer and treasure hunter until he allowed his obsession for the Devil’s Gold to destroy his reputation. With map in hand, Abby vows to find the gold and restore her grandfather’s good name.

Knowing she is out of her league and that others will stop at nothing to steal her treasure map, she hires another professional treasurer hunter, Gage Logan, to help her.

Gage is skeptical but still intrigued by the map and Abby. At first, he tries to dissuade her expedition. But when he realizes she’s determined to go with or without him, he reasons that the least he can do is to keep Abby safe while she uncovers the hidden messages left by her grandfather.

Heat, flash floods, winds, and a host of bad guys compound the problems Abby and Gage encounter while racing across the Superstition Mountains following King Farrell’s clues. Their growing attraction to each other doesn’t help the situation.

Abby and Gage must decide if finding the Devil’s Gold and restoring King Farrell’s reputation is worth the danger they face.

I have never laughed so hard out loud while reading a book, and I had to double check that this wasn't satire. Look, this is going to do it for somebody - but it was not for me. If you like tiny women pining for and being saved by big men that are emotionally unavailable, this is for you. One of the most toxic relationships I have ever read - but I will say that it was entertaining.

This is the second book in this series, I was unaware of that but it can be read as a standalone you don't miss anything. I enjoyed this read, I found it to be well-written and entertaining, I love a treasure hunt story and of course a romantic / suspense book.

This book put me in a reading slump. I liked the first book well enough and had medium expectations for this one. I hate it mostly because it was so disappointing.

Commandeering hero jaded about love, heroine who is “strong” until something goes wrong, an absolutely unbelievable series of events. I would go on but I’m getting riled up again, other 1 and 2 star reviews detail more if your interested.
