Mostly action and a lot of poorly thought out plot lines. I think it would make a better movie than the book. I also think the second book might be better as the authors leave NASA behind (I'm not convinced the authors did more than watch Apollo 13 for their research).

I might read the sequel at some point.

I get it that it was written by Hollywwod people but is it really necessary to state that most women had "stunning Figure" or selected only because they were women? It was extremely annoying .The plot was extremely predictable and felt more like a screenplay for a movie than a novel

Finished "Heaven's Shadow" by David S. Goyer & Michael Cassutt. I give it 2 of 5 stars ("it was okay"), mostly because I grew disinterested when the story moved into Dean Koontz territory of weirdness. Yeah, they justified it in the end, but I was hoping for a different story than I got. To the authors: it's not you, it's me.

I don't know what it was about this book that didn't capture me - I find all of the pieces intriguing (a near-Earth-object on an impact course, the return of a dead parent, a space race), but I didn't really connect with any of the characters, which made the events of the book way less resonant. All of the description and good ideas in the world don't really matter if there's nothing to hang my emotional hat on.

Fascinating look at NASA, astronauts, encounters with aliens, etc. Mostly though, I really enjoyed the technical aspects of the story. Will definitely be checking out the sequel!

I needed to take a bit of time before writing this, so I could bounce some things off of someone else to ensure I hadn't just missed some important facts.

I enjoyed this book, it was fun; much in the way a summer popcorn movie is fun. It had its problems, and it took itself too seriously, and there were some odd inconsistencies and things that happened without, as far as I could tell, any good reason, but it was, like I said, a fun read.

I'll be checking out the second book at some point in the near future, as I'm interested to see where the story will go. Maybe some of my confusion and questions will be answered there.

I enjoyed this one. I could understand why people wouldn't like it. I wouldn't have expected to like it myself. Most of the book is getting to Keanu and NASA people talking about space. Go figure. There is action but it's spread out. The ending wasn't what I expected, in a good way, and sets up the next book really well. I'm definitely interested to find out what happens next.
