Dying Days 4 has lofty expectations from the moment you open the cover. The zombies have evolved. Some have reached a sort of enlightenment. The Dying Days series follows a new path in this offering.

Armand Rosamilia's signature zombie series continues to deliver that something slightly different in zombie fiction. This story draws heavily on its living characters. The evolved zombies figure prominently in the story as well. The old, shambling, horny zombies are mentioned in passing but have become forgettable with the rise of their evolved counterparts.

The continued success of the series hinges on how well the new zombie threat is presented. This serms to take a more supernatural/horror theme as opposed to something more apocalyptic or survivalist. It's an adjustment in tone but stuck works well in this readers opinion.

In short, the Dying Days series remains a success through book 4. If you have enjoyed the series this far there odd no reason no to sally forth. The evolution of the monsters keeps it fresh and interesting. The non-chalant worrying style of the author is still solid. The cliffhanger at the end will send you right to the store for Dying Days 5.
