I liked this one but didn't love it. It has a secret baby trope and the heroine just makes some stupid decisions at times. More full review soon to come

This was cute although Annie drove me a little crazy. Dustin did a great job being patient with her.

It has been a while since I wanted to slap a heroine this badly...and a lot. So that might be the wrong thing to start a review with, bu hey it was a fun book, I just wanted to slap some sense into her!

Abby meets Dustin, a hot cowboy who has a player rep. She is a dog trainer on a set from hell, he is a local cowboy and they have a fling.

And then she does something stupid. She listen to someone else and leaves. She does not even talk to him. Come on girl, whyyy!?

Then she has to return for reshoots and decides to tell him that she is 7 months along. Not cool girl, not cool!

He takes her back cos he is freaking wonderful and he had fallen in love with her. She keeps listening to other people and thinks she knows what is best for him. You are the best for him, you!!!!! I get that people are insecure, but this man needs looove!

So she keeps backtracking and he is always there. Dang, that man was wonderful. So wonderful. Gotta love a cowboy.

I enjoyed it, slapping aside, lol

Narrator

I enjoyed her narration. She does different voices well and I think she is a good fit for romance. She takes the slow and the fast well. The romance and the drama.

I liked the first book in this series, which was a pretty simple romance— but the back and forth, and back and forth, and BACK AND FORTH, in the second half of this book is almost unbearable. But with a will and 2.75x speed, I made it through.

This is my least favorite book in this series. I’m not really the biggest fan of the accidental pregnancy trope, at least when the FMC is pregnant during the story. I like it better when there’s a pregnancy but then the baby is born and the characters reconnect then.

Annie drove me crazy for the most part. The way she kept leaving without talking to Dustin was so frustrating. Honestly, even Dustin wasn’t the best with communication.
For example, with his parents, he made it sound like his dad resented his mom because she got pregnant. When in reality, his parents were actually in love and didn’t resent each other. Which Dustin knew prior to his visit.

I also didn’t like the insta-love in this one.
Dustin proposed after 2 weeks.
Dustin and Annie’s relationship took off within like two weeks. I realize an accidental pregnancy changes things, but they couldn’t still taken the relationship a little slower.

There were definitely some sweet moments. Dustin is such a charmer. I didn’t totally hate this book. It was still fun to read, but there are definitely better love stories in this series.

3.5 stars. Clare has a delightful ability to make classically hated tropes a lot of fun

The Cowboy and His Baby by Jessica Clare is a lovely contemporary Western romance.

Hollywood animal trainer Annie Grissom is not looking for love while on location Wyoming. She is a bit frustrated with her current project so she joins a friend in blowing off a bit of steam in the local bar.  Her first impression of cowboy Dustin Worthington is not exactly favorable but another chance meeting changes her mind.  Over the next few weeks, Annie grows closer to Dustin but she is quick to jump to conclusions about him and leaves without discussing the issue with him. When unexpected circumstances force her to return to Wyoming, will Annie give Dustin the chance to be part of her and their unborn baby's life?

Annie's best trait is her love of animals and she is quite patient with the animals in her care. But when it comes to people, she is not overly trusting. She is quick to make assumptions and her defense mechanism is to run from problems instead of talking them through. Annie's treatment of Dustin is unfair but can she overcome her fears and open her heart to a future together?

Dustin is charming, laidback and good-natured. He has a bit of reputation as a ladies' man but he is always honest that he is not looking for a relationship. Dustin is a bit restless and enjoys traveling to new places. Although he usually does not stay too long in one place, he has been content to remain working in Wyoming. He is stunned by his unexpected feelings for Annie and he is heartbroken when she leaves without explanation.  When she returns, Dustin is excited about the baby but he has good reason to take a cautious approach to resuming their relationship.  With Annie back in his life, Dustin is ready to put down roots, but do they share the same vision for their future?

The Cowboy and His Baby is a pleasant romance that is fast-paced and engaging. The storyline is entertaining but a little predictable. Annie’s lack of communication is extremely irritating. Dustin is an endearing man but Annie certainly tries his patience. This newest release by Jessica Clare is a pleasurable read that fans of Western romances will enjoy.

This was my first time reading something from this author. And I found myself liking it very much. This book was a quick read but I had a little a hard time focusing on the story at the beginning. Maybe that was just me. Either way, this story focused on Dustin and Annie and their cute love story.
He originally goes up to her, to buy her a drink on his friend but she's not having any of it. And that piques his interest. He spends time with her and they slowly start to fall each other.

There were parts where our leading lady drove me crazy! When she didn't voice her reason for walking away from Dustin.! I wanted to throw my kindle.

Overall a cute love story.

I received an ARC from First to Read.
