This kept coming up as a recommendation for me, so I tried it. I’m glad I did, although I will say I found it very triggering and definitely thought about not finishing it at times 😳 (Content warnings to explain why will be below.)

An ode to human, messy friendships and relationships, Laura Williams doesn’t shy away from the horrible person that Stevie can be and from Roberta’s hurt that comes out through her actions.
Supper Club sounds kind of fun though 😂 I’d be down to try it 👀

I THOROUGHLY loved Roberta’s reunion with Arnold, where she TALKS OVER HIM and says ‘I’m not interested in talking about that’ whenever he brings up some shitty spiel. THE CONFIDENCE 🔥

4 out of 5 stars for me, thank you ✨

“What do you actually want from your life?”

This is one of those books that feels like it was written for me.

For all the girls who had a breakup with a best friend that you thought was your better half. For all the girls who survived their abusers. For all the girls who survived and still lost themselves. For those who know loneliness like an intimate partner. For all those girls who never found a way to connect their mind to their bodies.

For all those girls who just yearn for a community of other women, but have never fit in and are always left outside the intimacy - but don’t understand why.

This made my heart twist and was a dense amount of sadness, but also enough hope to keep moving through.

Ouch and wow.

I was over 1/3 of the way in and still had no feelings about the characters or felt any investment in their story. I see that this book was compared to Sally Rooney's Normal People, which was another book I didn't really care for - so it's obviously just me and my personal reading preferences.
