If that's how we're ending things then why did I even bother to read this entire thing? UGH.

I should have gone with my instinct and DNfed it.

What I Liked -
Interesting concept
Easy to read

What I Didn't Like  -
I don't think cliches are bad, and I knew immediately where the plot twists were going, which isn't terrible in itself. It's about the execution, and this does it poorly.
There was no depth for any of it, not for the character or the romance, which happens way too fast. It was so dry a lake couldn't quench my thirst. I didn't care about any of it. In fact, some character beats, and romance was so jarring it took the last part of me that was willing to read the rest right out of the story. It was a pain to finish.
Royce tells Kora that Aris, who I knew from the beginning, was not good, too overly friendly, that he isn't, and she trusts him. After Royce has treated her so coldly and overheard that he might want to kill or use her. Then his whole personality changed, and he acted like Aris… I know it was meant to show that Aris was copying him, but it could have been shown better through the story instead of this Jekyll and Hyde route. On top of that, Kora suddenly is over Aris, and she falls in love with Royce right after, and I mean right after, Aris has either died or been captured, just no words.

The magic system comes from what the plot needs.

The author might have been a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean; some characters and ideas seem very familiar with that story, but it is nowhere near as good.

It took me a while to get into the book. I was about to give up when the plot turned a little more interesting. I'm not sure yet if I am enough interested in the story to read the next book.

I do wanted to love this, unfortunately this book just fell flat for me. I felt like I spent more time skim reading the book than actually reading it. It wasn’t a bad book, it just couldn’t hold my attention.

A pesar de que me ha gustado el enfoque del mito de Midas, es que el romance es infumable.

This was a fun spin off of the King Midas story. The concept and story was there for me but I feel as though it was missing some of the development. Some more description of the world and characters would've helped me become more invested in the story. There are heart-wrenching events in this book that I feel could've been more impactful had that development been there.
