2.5 ⭐️ SLOW BURNNNNN. but like not the good kind. the tension started more than half way through the book so it wasnt that romantic and they started dating literally in the last 10 pages

This was perfectly fine! Sweet little gay YA romance that is even more sanitized than Heartstopper. I really liked one of the characters a lot (Theo) and didn’t care much for the other (Gabi) which left half of the book super enjoyable and the other half only tolerable, so the ship didn’t really hold any emotional resonance for me. Parts were cute! Mostly the parts told through Theo’s POV lmao.

Anyway, Theo was great. I loved how believable his inner dialogue was, especially regarding his very Asian family and communication style. His audiobook narrator was also excellent, just hit the beats of his teen angsty and humor soo well.

I desperately wanted to like this but I just don’t. I guess YA rom coms aren’t really my thing. But the cover is damn cute!

This book is an adorable story about two boys trying to save their families' cafes. It also emotionally wrecked me in the best way, and I was not expecting that. If you grew up with strict homophobic immigrant parents, be prepared to cry in the club.

very simple book, would have been a little hard to get through if it wasn’t short
