I am so, so in love with this series. I don't know what I'm going to do if she ever stops writing them.

Maybe a 4.5, but this ranks up there with Knee High by the Fourth of July. With the action set mostly in Battle Creek, the townspeople come front and center. Mira's character growth continues in a charming and believable way. Plus major props to Lourey for her terrific description of the weather and attention to the nuances in the environment.

I love this series. Usually by book 9, the author is bored with the series, but not Jess. Witty, funny and logical. Unlike many cozies, the author actually follows reasonable rules of law, having her character report things even if now hunky Gary the cop ignores it.

This is one of my favorite book series although the last one wasn't as good. This book bounced back with a good plot and laugh out loud funny moments. Mrs. Berns cracks me up, she's the perfect sidekick and her banter with Mira are always the highlight of the book. Can't wait for the next!

I enjoy these mysteries with their touch of humor, lovable though slightly inept main character and her cast of side kicks. Mira is a full time librarian, aspiring PI, part time reporter. Some of my hesitation for loving this series comes from strange wording or overuse of words. Some probably is my own fault for reading the series out of order.

Loved it! The development of the central characters is heart-warming and relatable. Highly recommended!
